This Blog Votes for Life with Ria!

Life with Ria

My vote goes to Ria.

Why?

Well, I think we have a few things in common. Her family name is my first name. She is from Davao and so am I (but im based in Gensan for 15 years now). She studied at the Philippine Women’s College of Davao and so did I (but years apart).

However none of these would matter if her blog is rubbish. Her blog is superb and is well written. You just have to read it for yourself and give me a very good reason why you would not want to vote for her blog at the 2010 Blogger’s Choice Award. Enough said.

Good Luck Ria!

Preventive Maintenance

Front quarter view of a second generation Toyo...

I was at Toyota Gensan the whole afternoon waiting for my Vios. Today is her scheduled 10,000 kms. PM (Preventive Maintenance). In just 6 months she already accumulated those number of kilometers. She is indeed a workhorse. The key to any good vehicle is regular maintenance. You take care of your vehicle and it will take care of you for a long period of time. Continue reading

Today is the 13,879th day since my mother gave birth to a cute and cuddly baby boy. Today  the boy is no longer as cute but can still be cuddly if you think so. 🙂

Thanks to all my family and friends who had been there for me in all these years. God Bless you all.

Meanwhile. . i’ll just spend the day in my own liesure time with love ones.

(My Birthday Cake is still being baked, will post pics later.)

Grand Lotto

11-16-42-47-31-37

Chances of winning is 1 in 29 million

Yes, those are the winning combinations for the Philippine’s biggest lotto prize in history. The lone winner if from the SBMA in Olongapo City. The take home pay is P741,176,323.20. Geez, just imagine what you could do with all that money. I have already fantasized about how to spend it. 🙂 The problem is, i’m not a die hard lotto bettor. Although I placed a bet for this prize twice, I did not win it. I was not able to bet yesterday when someone else got very lucky. Oh well, as they always say, there is a time and place for everything. Maybe it’s not yet my time to win and Gensan may not yet be the place to win it. But if I do win. . . I won’t blog it here. Hahaha.

More of the details here.

In Memory of “Kyle”

"Kyle" the most loyal dog a master can ever have. You will be missed.

Today is a sad day for me and the rest of my family. Our family pet an

Akita named Kyle was put to “sleep” this morning. She is supposed to turn 11 years old on monday. She was the most loyal, friendly and patient dog we ever had. I will surely miss her wagging tail every time I arrive home. Continue reading

Data Storage

The Size of a 16 GB Flash Drive compared to a ...

Gone are the days when we used to carry those floppy disks that contains our precious computer data.

When I was still in college, it was a requirement for our computer class to buy a 5 1/4 disk. Then when I was already working, the 3 1/2 inch floppy was the standard. It can store a few MB of data which at that time seemed to be a lot.

Then being the techie guy that I am, I was first to use a flash drive when everyone else in our company was still using a floppy disk. I remember buying my first flash drive for 3k+ pesos. Flash disks are expensive when they first came out. How much storage does it hold? A whopping 64 mb. . . yup 64 megabytes. Of course at that time 64mb was huge. It could store more than 20 times the capacity of a floppy disk. I still have it with me for keepsake.

Wow. . 64Mb of flash storage. . . Amazing

The Rainbow Warrior

The Rainbow Warrior at Gensan port

Yesterday my kids and I together with the Sox Bloggers went on board Greenpeace’s ship called the Rainbow Warrior. Sir Avel , the leader of the group arranged the field trip with people at Greenpeace. According to Miss Leah Guerrero, Greenpeace’s Regional Communications Manager in Southeast Asia, this is their first ever open boat day in Mindanao. We were very lucky indeed to be invited on board the ship. Leah personally took care of us, the Soccsksargen bloggers. She fetched us from our meeting point, provided the transportation going to the port and back and she even bought us snacks. She was our tour guide on board the ship with the help of Amrit, an Indian national who happens to be a blogger. Continue reading

Mobile Tethering

I have a lot of gadgets with wifi. When I am at home, I have no problem connecting them to the internet. My house has been a hotspot since 2005 even before hotspots were easily available. Although hotspots are very common nowadays, there are times that you need access to the internet and cannot find a wifi area. What to do? You now have more choices to connect to the internet. The most common choice that have been around for some time are the plug-in internet. Continue reading

My Bag

This post is inspired by a magazine that features the content of a celebrity’s bag. I’m not a celebrity but hey, whose to stop me from feeling as one. . Hahaha

I use this particular bag because everything fits in it. It’s actually a give away gimmick from my counterpart. It’s supposed to be a doctor’s bag but I have been using as my “Man Bag” for years now. I tried to replaced this bag a couple of times. I even bought a Samsonite clutch bag but I always go back to using this one. You can already see a tear near the zipper because of the heavy load that it bears. Continue reading
